A Perfect Plumber can replace and install:

Since property owners may not be familiar with some of this equipment, here’s a little more information.

Backflow prevention assemblies prevent contaminants from entering the main drinking water supply shared by you and your neighbors. Each property owner is responsible for the installation and maintenance of their own backflow prevention assemblies.

A pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) is a type of backflow prevention device used to keep non-potable (or contaminated) water from entering the water supply, protecting it from contamination or pollution. They’re commonly used in residential irrigation systems.

Sump pumps capture excess storm/ground water that drains into your home and pumps it outside. They’re typically installed at the lowest point in your home’s basement in an area called the sump pit.

An ejector pump is a sewage pump system that helps pump wastewater from below-grade (basement) drains when gravity alone can’t drain the water.

A recirculating pump ensures hot water is always available as close to the peak demand point as possible. They reduce water waste (while waiting for the water to get hot) and increase comfort. A lot of the newer homes are built with recirculation loops, but older homes can be retrofitted with recirculating systems

Water softeners prevent the build-up of minerals (scale) on the inside of pipes, fixtures, and water heaters. They can lengthen the life of some appliances.

FAQ

Why are you supposed to remove your hoses from outside spigots in the winter?

Most outside spigots or hose bibs in our area are frost-free. What this means is they drain out excess water when they are shut off. If you leave your hoses on, the water cannot drain out and the drain tube can freeze, causing a broken pipe and a big mess.

I have been told by my water district that my water pressure is too high. What does that mean?

There are some areas of town that have very high water pressure at the street. High water pressure is anything over 80 psi (pounds per square inch) in a residence. In most cases you already have a pressure regulator and it probably needs to be replaced.

How do I keep my garbage disposal inside clean and in working order?

Ice is an extremely effective and inexpensive method for cleaning your garbage disposal, sharpening the blades and breaking up any grease build-up. Just toss a few ice cubes into the garbage disposal and run it. As the garbage disposal chops into the ice cubes, the ice chips will effectively scour all the hard to reach areas of the unit, and melt down the drain. Try this once or twice a month to keep your garbage disposal in fine working order.

What should I do when my toilet runs until I jiggle the handle?

The handle of your toilet may be getting stuck, which leaves the flapper open. Unless the flapper is closed, the water will continue to flow.
